Christmas 2009

December 28, 2009

I hope all of you in the blogosphere had a great Christmas this year! My family and I had an awesome Christmas! We started our holiday at my sister-in-law and brother-in-law’s house on Christmas Eve along with my two nephews and my mother-in-law and father-in-law. We all scarfed on some killer pizza and chit chatted until it was time to open gifts. Carole, my MIL struck up an interesting conversation about camel toe. (Don’t Ask!)

After dinner and a short camel toe discussion, it was time to open presents. The tradition with my wife’s family is to pass out everyone’s presents all at once. Then either youngest to oldest or oldest to youngest, each person opens a present while everyone watches them. A lot of gag gifts are given so it’s always a night of laughter and fun. Some of the gifts given this year were cake mix, frosting and Asian noodles that were two years outdated. The “Gift of the Year” award would have to go to my SIL, Amie. Amie pulled a card that was sitting on the tree and handed it to her husband Mike. Mike pulled out the card and read it and his eyes grew larger and larger the longer he read. He looked back in the envelope and pulled out two tickets and announced that they are going to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in February. NIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!

After all the gifts were opened, we came home and prepared for Santa. Logan and I put cookies out for Santa and spread reindeer feed on the sidewalk in front of the house. Logan went to bed really well and was the first time since last Christmas Eve. LOL

Christmas morning we all woke up and opened our gifts. Our hardwood floor in the living room was soon covered in wrapping paper and bows, the way the floor should look on Christmas morning. Before long, all the gifts were opened and everyone was happy with their gifts. Paula and I got a lot of new clothes and a new Tom Tom. The kids got a little of everything. Later in the day it was time to return to my SIL and BIL’s house for dinner. We enjoyed spaghetti made my Aunt Bonnie and got to see some relatives we only see once a year at Christmas. Christmas is a time for family so it’s always nice to see them. Paula’s cousin brought her boyfriend Kevin along this year. He is originally from New Zealand and has been here in the states for just a few years. I had a good time chatting with him and thought he was really cool.

I’m sorry to see Christmas go as it’s my favorite time of the year. It seems to come and go quicker as I grow older. My dad always warned me of this. LOL I’m already looking forward to next year! 😀
