Black Beauty

August 16, 2010

As a kid growing up and even well into adulthood I loved my sports cars. I was a lover of all cars with muscle. I had a need for speed and I wanted to look good while doing it. My dream car was and still is a
Corvette but since I could not and still cannot afford one, I eventually purchased the next best thing. I remember her well and wish I still had the old girl. My 1979 metallic blue Chevy Camaro was my first baby! She was well equipped with four on the floor, polished chrome SS rims, Mickey Thompsons, air shocks in the rear end jacked up as high as the law would allow, a 400 hp bored over 350ci small block engine, T-tops and a stereo that would make your ears bleed. Back then life was school, work, cruising and racing!

Then, in a blink of an eye I was all grown up, married and my first son was born. It was time to trade in the Camaro for something a little more practical. I traded her in on a brand new Chevy Cavalier many years ago. She didn’t have the speed my Camaro did but at least she was red and was still a five speed. The Cavalier did much better in the snow and used WAY less gas than the Camaro and a baby’s car seat looks much more practical in a Cavalier than a Camaro.

One of the last things I ever thought about buying was a pickup truck. That was until we got our first camper and started camping on a regular basis. Hauling firewood would sure be easier in a pickup than the trunk of the car. I could haul a hell of a lot more and it wouldn’t make such a mess of the trunk. I could pull our old pop-up camper with the car but when we got our travel trailer, forget it. It sucks having to rely upon other people to pull your camper around for you. I had talked about getting a truck for a few years now. Nothing fancy, just something to haul around the camper and firewood when needed. I had been driving the same car now for seven years and I was ready for something different. My son had been looking for a car ever since the engine seized up in his car so I figured I would sell him my car at a very fair price and buy myself a cheap fix me up pickup truck.

Once I got the idea in my head it only took about 15 minutes to find one online that was in my very low price range. I called up Blind Tommy and Bitch Eyes and we were on our way to take a look at it. I looked her over, took her for a test drive and I was sold. She’s not much to look at but she sure runs good and has low miles. I thought $575.00 was a fair price to pay for a fix me up pickup that can haul firewood and pull my camper. Hell, she is even a four wheel drive which is a definite perk! We get some pretty hellatious snow storms here in the winter so the four wheel drive will be nice to have in the winter for sure.

Without further ado, I would like to introduce to you my 1985 Ford F-150 fix me up pickup truck, Black Beauty. She was appropriately named Black Beauty on the way home from picking her up by Bitch Eyes. 🙂

Like I said, she’s not much to look at. What were you expecting for under $600?

She came complete with locking hubs, a cracked windshield, two working speakers, holes, dents, front brush guard, an eight foot bed that never has to be made and all the rust anyone could want and she is mine all mine.

The following song was dedicated to me by Bitch Eyes and Blind Tommy! ENJOY!!!

Somehow I can picture you in this perfectly! LOL!
By the way I had a Purple Cavalier. It was my very 1st brand new car. When I met my husband he named it the Barney Mobile! Needless to say he made me trade it in the 1st chance he got!

      LOL……Thanks Heather!

My cavalier was bright red. It really was a good car but I can’t blame your hubby for making you trade in a purple one. LOL
