I love lady bugs…I even like those Asian beetle things. During the summer I almost always have one on my shoulder going for a ride. 🙂

Gary….you have the ability to select your subjects to photograph with a very curious, refreshing side. I wish you would do more. You should have some of your work in print. Just a thought. 🙂

Amazing, never seen a lady bug this close! they are so sweet. We call them lieve Heersbeestjes: little Sweet Lord animals. And you need to make a wish when it lands on your hand and you blow it softly in the air again! 🙂

    • January 20, 2010 3:56 PM

Thank you Ellen! I don’t believe I have ever heard anyone call them by that name before. 😀 I remember little girls making a wish and blowing them into the air when I was a kid. 😀

HOW DO YOU KNOW IT IS A FEMALE BUG . BECOZ OF ITS FANCY COATING?

    • January 20, 2010 3:58 PM

Exactly! The female lady bugs have a red colored shell and the males have more of an orange shell like the one pictured here. The males are still called lady bugs though. Don’t ask me why cause I have no idea. LOL

I love when they pitch on my hand……I run flies and others but not a lady bug.
    Great Photo
