The Best $5 We Ever Spent

July 8, 2009

Many of you faithful readers will hopefully remember my “Just Curious” question a while back when I posed the question of “What is the best $10 or under investment you have ever made”. If not, the “Just Curious” question along with everyone’s comments can be read here .

Bug_Lantern

THIS dear reader is the best $10 or under investment we have ever made as I mentioned when I answered the “Just Curious” question. Paula purchased this little beauty a few years ago at a garage sale for $5 and it has killed slaughtered MILLIONS of pesky mosquitoes for us. I listen to the sweet sound of the pesky little blood suckers being zapped to death every night by this bad boy. Yep, best $5 we have ever spent!

so does this really work on mosquitos? I mean you sit outside and you notice that you do not get bit up as much? cuz I was told those zappers only attract and kill things like moths. I never knew whether to believe them or not I just knew that when I lived at home growing up when they first came out our goofy neighbor at the time hung one up on his garage right by my upstairs window. He would turn that damn thing on and then leave. He was never outside so I never understood why the need for it other than to be an asshole.
Well he left one time after I had been on an afternoon drunk and wanted to sleep that night. I had my window open cuz there was no air at the old house and about midnight getting woke up by that thing …I stumbled down the stairs ..went over to his garage ..knocked it down and busted it to hell. Went back in and went to sleep. I don’t know if he knew it was me or not but he didn’t replace it.

So anyhow I am curious as to if you really notice the difference. The mosquitos are HORRIBLE already and I can’t even imagine trying to sit outside without something. Somebody told me Obsorbine Jr. is supposed to keep them off of you too..so much so that the stores are having trouble keeping it in stock!

I still want to come up there and see this cool place you describe. Beats the hell out of any camping spot around here! 😦

It does work, but it does not get every mosquito within 25 feet of it. It does help a lot. Obsorbine Jr works great on those stupid biting gnats we have been getting the last couple years. I will put some on and I will not have a gnat around me for hours. I swear by this product. With camping and all the baseball games I go to, I have dealt with hundreds of these gnats. I have tried vanilla, bug spray…they don’t work.

They really do work JJ. I notice a HUGE difference with it bein on for sure!

I have a hard time paying full price for anything. I am a bargain hunter and don’t care if I am labeled it. Can’t afford to live any other way.

    • July 9, 2009 10:57 PM

Paula is for sure. I just buy what I need whatever the price and get it over with. LOL

I will be emailing you guys about a possible trip up there. We have some vacation time coming soon and we aren’t going to get to go to the family camp we usually go to. We need to get away for at least a couple of days.

…but I gotta see what the odds of us getting a spot close to the bathroom are 🙂

    • July 10, 2009 10:25 AM

Sounds great! We will be looking for the email.

Your odds of getting a spot close to a bathroom are quite high! 🙂

  10. July 10, 2009 8:55 PM

ok now high odds meaning we won’t get by a bathroom or that we WILL get by a bathroom?

If I know we are coming maybe you could go pitch a tent on a site for us till we get there 🙂

    • July 14, 2009 6:10 PM

Sorry….LOL….high odds meaning you WILL get a site near a bathroom. I can save a site for you with no problem. Just let me know. 🙂
