The American Legion WWII Veterans Dinner

June 26, 2009

The local American Legion served a special dinner for some local World War II veterans tonight and I was asked to attend and take photographs of the veterans. The American Legion are presenting the photographs to the veterans as small gifts of appreciation for their service along with tonight’s all you can eat catfish and fried chicken dinner at no cost. When I was asked to do the photo shoot, I was honored and offered my services at no charge as a token of my appreciation to the veterans. I did however enjoy a delicious catfish dinner with potatoes, corn and dinner roll. How can anyone pass that up?

All 20 men being honored this evening were in combat during World War II and represented all branches of the US military including the coast guard. It was an honor to meet them and they are all true American heroes.

BIG thanks to the American Legion of Colona for allowing me to be part of this special event.

That sounds like a nice time. Also nice of you to donate time and skill taking photos. And a yummy Catfish and chicken dinner, who could pass that up. Glad they had this nice dinner and pictures to be honored. Sounds like a good time.

I’ve never eaten catfish. We eat all saltwater fish here. I’ll bet it was good. I didn’t realize you were a photographer. That’s a good trade–a wonderful dinner for the pleasure of photographing such wonderful men.
