What are your thoughts about the incident yesterday in which Air Force One flew unannounced and very low over Manhattan, sending New Yorkers scrambling in fear?

Wouldn’t like to have been in NY that day must have been a real fright to many people.
Pretty stupid stunt considering what happened back on Sept 11

    Tony 🙂

Stupid is really an understatement for this one if you ask me! I can just imagine what some of those people in offices and such were thinking as the plane flew by.

Gazza is a nickname for Gary in Australia?? I didn’t know that! Cool, I learned something today!! 😀

The guy at the White House that OK’d it should be fired. So should the Mayor’s aides who didn’t tell him about it.

    • April 29, 2009 10:44 AM

I didn’t know the mayor’s aides were aware of it. The mayor himself claimed he was not advised of it before it happened.

Yeah, Husband said the aides knew but didn’t inform the Mayor. Eejits. They should all be sacked.

oh wow! A classic case of the left hand not knowing what the right one is doing. Not suprising actually.

Yep fire them. No severance, no retirement. How friggin stupid could you possibly get???

and I agree with other people in other venues discussing it. HTF much does it cost to not only fly that friggin plane but then to have a fighter following it??? Don’t we have better things to be doing with our money?

I think this was a bad stunt all around and I really really have a hard time believing that our president had no idea it was going on. COME ON!

    • April 29, 2009 10:49 AM

That was probably one of the STUPIDEST things someone could possibly do if you ask me! WTF were they thinking???

As far as the cost goes, I found this on CNN.com…………
Air Force officials estimate that the mission and the photo shoot for the 747 and an accompanying F-16 fighter jet cost $328,835. But they said “the hours would have been flown regardless, and the expenses would have been accrued on a different mission.”

I’m having a hard time believing that Obama didn’t know anything about it either but who knows???

      • April 30, 2009 4:15 PM

why would it have needed to be flown? That sounds like more political bullshit to me!

you may not believe it Gary , many would not have bothered to know what was happening—they will wait for the news and it would be business as usual.

    JUST PLAIN STUPID!
Whoever planned this should be fired. I am still trying to figure out why such a publicity stunt was needed.

    • April 29, 2009 11:03 AM

      Innit though??? Just FREAKING DUMB!!

Apparently they were taking photos of Air Force One and trying to get the statue of liberty in the same photo. They were flying low and trying to get as close to the statue as possible.

      REALLY REALLY DUMB!

  6. April 29, 2009 10:29 AM

What was the point of it? Sightseeing?

    • April 29, 2009 11:04 AM

      Photos! LOL

They were trying to take some photos of Air Force One with the Statue of Liberty.

I felt bad for the folks in NY that must have been very stressful and scary. Hopefully that won’t ever happen again.

    • April 29, 2009 11:48 AM

Yeah, I can only imagine what must have been running through their minds.

  8. April 29, 2009 12:44 PM

Dumb, dumb, dumb……I can see for whatever lame brain excuse for someone doing this but to not inform the residents and THE WORLD that is as just a “whatever, insert here” was just plain dumb.

    • April 29, 2009 3:19 PM

I think a few phone calls were in order before doing this!!! LOL

found your blog some how, perhaps S Le or something.
My husband was at the Pentagon on 9-11-01. He is DOD CIO and was at a meeting. He then left, and stood at a bus stop outside the Pentagon, then got on the bus, and moments later the plane crashed right there at that spot, bus stop also destroyed. I can just tell you that that day I almost had a heart attack.
Now when I hear this that replayed in NY it just sickens me.
Why does this administration get away with everything time and time again.
This was a thoughtless selfish act.
Yes, I immediately thought why not Photoshop?
What an absolute waste of MY money!

    • April 29, 2009 6:09 PM

Wow! I’m so glad your husband got on that bus in time! I remember being glued to the TV that day as was the rest of the world wondering how someone could do something like that.

Thanks for dropping by and sharing your story Roserazzle!!

I agree with the earlier comments about it being very scary after 9/11 and all. Fire him immediately

    That happened?
    I never knew.

You probably didn’t hear about this on the other side of the pond Lyla.
