I Thought I Was Gonna Make It But…

March 10, 2009

I was wrong! It looked as though I was going to make it through the cold and flu season this year without catching any bugs. I was wrong! I did however hold out until the tail end of the tail end of the season. I should have known better! I have caught a nasty cold or flu bug every year since my inception into this big wide world.

My cold started coming on pretty strong yesterday. It started with a sneeze here and there and a sore throat and dry cough in the morning, followed by body aches, the chills, a slight fever, runny nose, fatigue, watery eyes, stiff neck, and a terrible case of the blahs! Today was not any better, in fact worse! My dry cough is still pretty much dry except for the occasional and unexpected burst of mucus that is released from my chest when coughing, filling my mouth with a moist, slippery, thick ball of SNOT. MMMMMM, I just love it when that happens!

Right before starting this post, I found myself sitting on the couch with a Kleenex in each nostril of my nose to keep the running snot from dripping onto my laptop. I keep thinking to myself, “why, oh WHY didn’t I order that Snuggie I kept seeing advertised on TV all this winter?” “It would feel so comforting right now!” Maybe I could get Joy to email me hers to use? Just until I get over this!! 😀

I’m a big baby when I get sick. I can’t help it though! It’s just ME! 😀

I am sure you know about the things you are supposed to do when you are sick, right?? Let’s hope you have some “down” time available!! Oh Gary, how did you do in school with English class???? Wow, thanks for sharing the mucus stuff!!! LMAO!! Don’t tell anyone but I put kleenix up my nose too.

The snuggie is in the mail!!! Cause we got a 2 for 1 deal!!! Seriously, I hope you feel better. Jason has this too and he’s been sick for almost 2 weeks and he NEVER gets sick!

It was a little gross, I know. I just wanted the reader to fully understand the severity of the mysery I am in. ROFL!!

You put Kleenex in your nose too? SWEET! Nice to know i’m not alone. I have found this to work very well to stop a leaky nose. Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me. 😀

Thanks Joy! I knew you wouldn’t let me down. I was hoping you would email it to me….MUCH faster than snail mail. 😀

I hope Jason starts feeling better soon also!! Two weeks is a long time to feel under the weather. 😦

Awwww I hate it when babies are sick. I say babies because that’s what you men turn into!!! 🙂 I think every man turns into a baby when they get sick!!!
Thanks for the great visualization of the snot in your mouth…I about gagged!!! lmao….I hope it doesn’t last long!!!!
I put Kleenex in my nose too…just don’t forget to take it out if you need to answer your door!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That sux!!!

    • March 11, 2009 4:04 PM

I won’t speak for all men but I know I sure do. As far as the visualization goes, you are most welcome Nikki. ROFLMAO!!

You guys have NO IDEA how happy I am to see i’m not the only one that puts Kleenex into their nose. Every time I do that, my wife laughs at me and tells me i’m crazy.

Nikki is right! Men are big babies when they’re sick, but if us women get sick we’re expected to carry on with all of our normal “duties”! I do hope you get better Gary. Most of us at work will shove kleenex’s up our noses before we go into a case so the snot doesn’t run all down our face into the mask!!!

    • March 11, 2009 4:07 PM

I know what you mean Sue. I am a stay at home dad so I have to carry on with my normal “duties” sick or not. LOL

      Thanks for your well wishes!

LOL “so the snot doesn’t run all down our face and into the mask” or into the patient??? ROFLMAO!!

I am a 365 /24 perennial cold man. TRied everything but gave up. Living with it. They say it goes in seven days or one week whichever is earlier.
For some inhaling onion vapour works fine.

I rarely am ill either but managed to get the flu last weekend. Blah!

Your write-up was graphic and gross. Congratulations!

Hope you feel better very soon!

    • March 12, 2009 8:53 AM

Getting sick over the weekend is the worst. You work all week and can’t wait for the weekend to arrive and then “BAM”. SUCKS!!

I’m glad I could gross you out this morning S. Le!! ROFLMAO!!

Thanks! I feel about the same today as I did yesterday. 😦

instead of a “Snuggie” i prefer to call mine a “Power Blanket”

  13. March 18, 2009 1:53 PM

lol you could always just wear a bath robe backwards? Though the snuggie ends up being nicer since its not made of terry cloth.

    • March 18, 2009 3:40 PM

Tis true! I think a snuggie would be much more comfy than a backwards robe although it would be a tossup as to a winner in a fashion show. LOL
