Happy Birthday Nick!

My first born, 6’ 10”, bouncing baby boy turned eighteen years old today! It’s hard to believe that eighteen years ago today, Nicholas Allan Meier entered this big wide world and I became a father for the first time. It seems like only yesterday you were drinking from a bottle while I held you in my arms watching you watch me. I miss you crawling up onto my lap to watch Saturday morning cartoons and singing the Barney song together. Running around the apartment we lived in pretending to be Power Rangers was always fun!

Today, you are all grown up and have become a man. I am very happy and proud to be your dad. While you were growing up, I tried very hard to be not only your dad but also your friend. That was hard to do sometimes but I enjoy the relationship we have together. Eighteen years ago today, I made a wish. I wished that you would grow up happy and healthy and my wish came true.
