I DID! WHEN I WAS MARRIED TO MY FIRST WIFE I HELP OUT AN OLD FOLKS HOME DOING REPAIRS FOR THE SENIORS ALL THINGS FROM A/C UNITS, HEATERS, AND WHAT EVER ELSE THEY NEEDED FIXED. I BECAME CLOSE TO A NUMBER OF THEM TO HAVE THEM PASS AWAY. THAT WAS THE HARDEST THING I HAVE EVER HAD TO DO AND STILL TO THIS VERY DAY I MISS THEM.
yes we do /have . My bff and I had a little thing where people would let us know they had stuff to donate…we would find people who needed the stuff and then we would hook them up. It was fun and we got to know a lot of people. We had some people start abusing the system and so we kind of took a break from it but are thinking of setting it back up again.
We had some familes move her from Liberia and we were able to furnish their humble little apartments with furniture. And made some great friends in the doing.
I have actually done an internship at a volunteer bureau where I interviewed and placed individuals interested in volunteer work in our community. I did public service announcements for recruiting volunteers. Gary, trust me…I have done SO many things…and still am….I can’t list them all. I love helping people. I wear many hats!
I think getting out yourself and helping others is a Win Win situation. Ive helped bring food and a tree and present to home for Christmas, Ive rescued a Saint Barnard who was dehydrated now that’s a heavy dog LOL I’ll never forget the look of appreciation in his eyes and how my heart felt to be able to help him in that moment. There’s a couple of other things but those stand out in my mind.
Oooyyy….YES. I got my job at the school because I was there every day anyway. I volunteered at school and church a lot. I did put in a form at the school here but they only called me once. I wore deodorant and brushed my teeth. It can’t be that!!!
You wore deodorant AND brushed your teeth in the same day? That’s a lot of work. I usually switch off from day to day doing one or the other. Since you did them BOTH in the same day, I suppose it couldn’t be that. Unless they thought you were trying TOO hard to impress them?? Who knows???
I have done a little volunteer work, not as much as some of you. When I was in high school, my grandfather was active in a program called “Meals on Wheels” and I would help out with that. It was through our church. We would deliver meals to the elderly that were still living in their own homes but just couldn’t cook for themselves anymore.
I also worked unpaid for a Native American pow-wow a couple of years. I have always been interested in Native American history and culture. Pow-wow’s are getting smaller and have been dying away so I tried to do my part to keep them going.
I did much more volunteer work when I was in high school and still active in the after school groups. Now that my daughter is in 4-H, I have been getting back into it, but not as much as I’d like. I do donate a lot of stuff to the Goodwill and we’ve had many food drives in our community recently.
I donate all kinds of crap to goodwill but think I cancel it out when I drop my shit off at the drop off and pull into the parking lot and load up to take new crap home!

Hey good for you Mad Hatter! That’s AWESOME!
It’s always hard when someone you are close too passes away. I’m sorry for your losses.
But I donate for charitable institutions on my grandsons birthday every year.
I would like to do some work for animals becoz I love them very much.
Awesome Lviss!

That’s awesome JJ. You can never have too many friends. Sorry to hear about people abusing the system like that. Doesn’t suprise me though.
Sometimes it takes just a few to fuck things up for the many.

when do you fit a change of drawers in your lineup
Once a week weather I need it or not.
I used to tutor 5th grade students in reading comprehension. I also did paperwork for some teachers.
Oh, and I was a church treasurer for 12 years. An unpaid position. Also the same church’s choir director. Also an unpaid position.
That’s awesome!
Wow, 12 years of volunteer work as church treaurer and church choir director? That’s GREAT!

Cool!
I have given to goodwill a few times.

ROFLMAO!!! So you TRADE at goodwill as opposed to DONATING to goodwill.
